Skin Tags on Inner Labia

Party Pregnancy

A Stirrupz.com visitor asked:

This is unrelated to pregnancy, but I found this website and wanted to take advantage of the anonymous aspect. I hope that is okay. I have been stressing about this for quite a while. I think I have skin tags in the inner labia inside my vagina. I have had them for several years, and have had my annual pap exams and have always been too embarrassed to ask about them. I’m worried because it seems like there are more growing. I recognize them as skin tags because I have had them removed from other parts of my body already. They don’t look like any kind of std I’ve ever heard of or learned about, and I am also a health student. I have been with the same person for 3 years, and have had 2 pap exams and been tested in that time as well. is it even possible to get skin tags in there? or could it be something bad? thank you so much for answering my questions..i really do appreciate it.

Stirrupz.com Response:

Thanks for the question.

It is possible to get skin tags inside your labia – its not too common but it happens. They would be easily visible during your pelvic exam, so your provider would have brought them up if they thought there was any problem with them. If more are growing, you may want to schedule another exam and ask about it – I know its tough to bring things up while you are laying in the stirrups, but if its bugging you a lot, it will be easier to talk about it.

You are probably fine – and its not likely to be anything “worse”. If they are bothering you, they could be removed. They are not an std.

Are you an innie or an outtie with your lips? I grew up with my lips hanging out a bit – which always bothered me. So, if you are an outtie and are wanting the tags removed, you might also want to check into having them trimmed back a bit. Its getting to be fairly common and would probably reduce the chances of more tags. I was trimmed, so feel free to ask if you want to know more.

Followup Question Received:

Firstly, I want to thank you for answering my questions and being so kind about it. This is a very generous service your providing and extremely valuable. I have a doc apt in a few weeks, and will ask about then. And also, yes I’m an “outtie” as well. It does bother me, but it is probably mostly a cosmetic bother, however, if the “moisture trap” its creating is making my problem worse then maybe I should at least get some information on trimming…as scary as that sounds. I don’t know what it would cost or what the risks are, etc.

Since I have the opportunity, I thought I might ask about plan b one step side effects. I had all of the side effects listed on the package, but it has been 13 days since I took it ( a day and a half after the deed ) and I am still having mild cramping, sore boobs, bloating, fatigue and headaches. I should get my period in about 3 days. I havent had any spotting. Is it safe/normal for me to still be experiencing these symptoms? I know it is a huge blast of hormones, so maybe my body is just reacting to it. I really don’t think I could be pg, as I am also on the pill, but was a bit inconsistent with it earlier this month.

Stirrupz.com Response:

I think my outtie was worst in highschool. I hated changing for swimming or anything really and being seen. I was pretty jealous of the “regular” looking girls. Being trimmed is scary – but sometimes it helps. You would have to check into the cost where you are – here if its something that is health related, its free. So finding a doctor who agrees the skin tags may be worse from it, may be a way to get it done easily.

If you are getting serious about it, I’ll try to explain what it feels like to have it done and after, what its like to be one of the “other girls”.

Chances are good your symptoms are still just from the pill. It can last for weeks. You are lucky you didn’t bleed earlier. As you probably guess, the symptoms are also the same as being pregnant. There is no way to know for sure what is causing it until your period is late and you test.

For now, just try to relax about it all. The more you worry, the more likely you are to be late.

Being on the pill as well will probably have kept you from getting pregnant anyway – and the plan b was insurance. I really think you are fine.
